The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources has revised the states above-ground storage tank rules
The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources has revised the state’s above-ground storage tank rules for both residential and business locations. There are several rule changes to note as of August 1 of this year. Tanks in flood-prone areas must be secured and vent pipes have to be extended above flood levels. There are also new design and installation requirements for new systems. Additional regulations for existing tanks are coming down the pipe for 2030. In the meantime, non-compliant tanks will fall under the ‘yellow tag’ provision, which allows tanks to be filled through the end of the heating season.
