Three people from Quebec, including a child, were killed
Three people from Quebec, including a child, were killed when a small plane that took off from Plattsburgh crashed in Ohio. It happened Friday at about 7 p.m. at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station near the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. Ohio troopers said the plane crashed near a runway. The National Transportation Safety Board says the Beechcraft BE-60 was trying to make an emergency landing after the pilot reported a loss of engine power. The FAA said the plane took off from the Plattsburgh International Airport. There was a pilot and two passengers onboard. All three died in the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the pilot as Jawdat Khawam, 54, and the two passengers as Martine Arseneault, 45, and Daphne Khawam, 8. Officials say all three are from Laval, Quebec. The NTSB and FAA are investigating the crash. A preliminary report is expected within the next month.
