A Brownington woman has been charged with misdemeanor charges

A Brownington woman has been charged with misdemeanor charges of possession of cocaine and possession of narcotics. Tabatha M. Simpson, 29, of Brownington, failed to appear in Court on Tuesday, and Judge Justin Jiron issued an arrest warrant. The warrant ordered police to issue Simpson a citation to appear in court next Tuesday. Orleans County Deputy Sheriff Daniel Locke, on Sept. 19, 2023, noticed a blue SUV traveling on Route 16 in Barton. But the SUV was not displaying an inspection sticker. Deputy Locke then pulled the car over and noticed two females in the back seat, two males in the front seat, and a dog. The operator of the car – Jason Degreenia – did not have a driver’s license because it was under suspension.  Police said the other occupants included Jason Davis, 41, of New Hampshire, Susan Davis, 42, and Tabitha Simpson. Police checked records and discovered that Jason Davis had two arrest warrants in New Hampshire. Both Degreenia and Jason Davis were arrested. Police then noticed a small bag on the rear seat floor in front of Simpson. A search warrant was later executed, and police said they found three glass pipes, digital scales, white powder in a rubber container, and two wax baggies holding a purple powder. The white powder was field tested as positive for cocaine. The purple powder was field tested as positive for fentanyl. Simpson faces a possible sentence of two years in prison and $4,000 in fines.
